Zen, Connaught Place

Must visit restaurant

Went to Zen and found the food reasonably priced and tasty. The service was unhurried but efficient. Being just 3 girls we felt comfortable and relaxed in the restaurant. We requested the order taker for food without chilli and he recommended sliced chicken with mushroom & spinach, Pokchoy & cabbage in oyster sauce and some steamed rice. We enjoyed the meal.

The Blue Door Cafe, Khan Market

Nice place

I was recommended Blue door cafe by some friends, and decided to check it out. Although it was fairly empty, the ambience was quite lovely owing to the vibrant paintings on the walls. I ordered the breakfast special which was absolutely delightful, along with fresh orange juice. My friend tried the orange and carrot juice which was also tasty. I tried their arrabiata pasta, which was average, but the portion size was quite large. Their waffles were also quite good. My friend had their parma ham and cheese sandwich, but found that the taste of the cheese completely overpowered the ham and rocket leaves. This was a bit disappointing. Their lemon ice tea was absolutely delicious. They also have a salmon salad which is very good. I like how they are not stingy with their servings. The staff was also quite friendly and helpful. All in all, a great place to visit.

Tasty rolls

This is one of the main go-to places for rolls. You can always expect to get good food in a short waiting time. My favourite is definitely the Chicken Tikka roll, which has a good level of spice and chutney mixed. I have also tried their Paneer roll which is also tasty, and their Mutton Kakori roll which has a good flavour, but I found it quite oily. On most visits to khan chacha, I have found the meat pieces to be quite succulent, but sometimes I feel that they are overcooked and can be quite dry. I hope they try to maintain good quality ingredients, specially owing to how they price the rolls decently high.

Nizam's Kathi Kababs, Connaught Circus

Great rolls!

Since my office is near Connaught Place, I have frequented Nizam's on multiple occasions. Although the access route to this restaurant is mostly quite messy and almost always under construction, the food there is quite worth the effort. I enjoy their double chicken single egg kathi roll, although it can get quite heavy and oily in the parantha wrap. A good alternative is the roomali roti but I find that is too spicy. The also serve delicious chicken biryani with good portion size and caramelized onion on the side with jeera raita. The staff is friendly, although I haven't found the premises to be clean. I have spotted cockroaches on one occasion. Their food is quite good, but I hope they work on their cleanliness.

Always good!

This place has been around for decades, and I remember visiting Wengers since I was a child!! Its good to know that they have maintained their high quality over the years, this is the reason that it still is a popular joint. Their patties are great and flavorsome, with a crunchy exterior and a good amount of filling in the center. Their shammi kebabs are their specialty and are absolutely divine!! They are almost triple the size of regular shammi kebabs. Their cookies are great too. Specially the one with jelly in the middle. The cheese straws are also good, but can be a little more spicy, otherwise they seem more bland. Their cakes are quite standard, so I would recommend going to a more upmarket restaurant if you're looking for one for a special occasion! But all in all, a good place to visit if you're looking for a quick bite.

Nando's, Vasant Kunj

Great Place!

This place is definitely a heaven for chicken lovers, but can be a bit disappointing for vegetarians! Their grilled chicken is very delicious, specially with the variety of sauces they serve. I opted for mild spicy with hot peri peri sauce and garlic sauce. They also have chicken skewers with sundried tomatoes which is also great with succulent pieces of meat. Everytime I have visited Nando's its always crowded so the ambiance can be quite noisy, specially with a number of kids always around. But it is a great place to visit on weekdays and specially around 7 or 8pm before the dinner crowd sets in!

Chili's Grill & Bar, Vasant Kunj

I had heard that Chili's is a good joint for burgers, so thought of checking it out. I started with the chicken wings which were really quite spicy and delicious. They were served with a dip which had a great flavor, complimenting the wings. I ordered a tenderloin burger as a main course. I'll say that I was kind of disappointed with it as the bun seemed quite stale and I didn't enjoy the meat too much either. Maybe it was an off day for the restaurant, but I'm not sure if I would go again to try their burgers. The ambiance and the service was great though.

Wasabi by Morimoto, The Taj Mahal Hotel, Mansingh Road

Amazing food

Wasabi definitely stands to be one of my top restaurants in Delhi! After having said that, if one is willing to spend plenty, it has to be justified by great food and service. The ambiance is also great. I tried the sashimi platter which came with a variety of seafood which tasted fresh and delicious. Their spicy salmon roll is also my favorite. I tried the tuna tartare, which was really well presented and one of the finest I've had. I was a little disappointed with their prawn cocktail. For main course I had Surf n Turf, which is tenderloin and prawn tempura. The tenderloin was juicy and really tasty. The prawns were enjoyable too! Definitely a great place to go when you're willing to splurge!!

House Of Ming, The Taj Mahal Hotel, Mansingh Road

Wonderful Meal

I went to Ming for the first time about a month ago with some friends. On entering the restaurant, it seemed like you have traveled to China. The oriental music and the decor definitely added to the experience. We started with some Hot and Sour soup and Manchow soup which were both great. We the had crispy spinach, dumplings and lotus stem for appetizers. It's definitely the best crispy spinach I've ever had. The flavors and the crispness was delightful! For main course we had a steamed fish and black bean chicken which were also great. We finished the meal with some chocolate cake from their patisserie and ice cream! Definitely worth every penny spent! My only complaint was that the staff seemed quite distracted and inefficient, which is hard to imagine in a luxury hotel like Taj.
